A blood moon eclipse rose last night over our Kona coast. People were pulling off the road to survey a sky that was first almost blocked by forbidding clouds. The clouds whisped away as the moon rose over the slopes of our long quiet volcano, Hualalai. The bright full moon dimmed and darkened as our earth’s shadow passed, scattering reflected rays to turn the lunar eclipse to a vivid “blood moon”.
